A Thanks to Our Hosts and Guests!

If you read our blog, you would have known that in January we ran a special internal event called our “January Month of Giving”, where we donated a percentage of all our earnings to the Children’s Center of Cebu.

Earlier today we received a thank you card from them with this great picture. I wanted to share it with all of you because it was the combined effort of our fantastic reps, hosts, and guests that allowed us to make this donation and help these wonderful children.

Thank you!!

Thank you from Children's Shelter of Cebu

Denver Gold Parties

Denver cash for gold partiesAs you can read on our location page, we operate Gold Parties all throughout the United States and Canada. We don’t actually have headquarter operations in all of these places though. For many parties, our Gold Party Reps will travel some distance to work a gold party for their friend, or someone else who decides to book. That is how Denver and the rest of Colorado used to be for us, but not anymore.

We are officially launching our full support of the Denver and full Colorado Gold Party markets. Now, we have a full headquarters with Gold Party reps and support for the full local Denver market. What does this mean to you as a prospective Denver Gold Party Host or Colorado Gold Party Rep. Well, mostly it just means that you are eligible for our Colorado Gold Party launch incentive.  For now, any host that books a party in Denver or elsewhere in Colorado receives a $100 bonus just for having the party.

Gold Party Referral Incentive

In addition, we are having a Colorado Gold Party Referral blowout incentive!  If you have a friend or relative in Denver or any other city in Colorado and you refer them to us and they host their own Gold Party you will receive 10% of that party just for passing the name along!  On average, this works out to about $250!  To refer someone just go to our contact page by clicking on the navigation above and entering the details of the referral in the contact form or by calling us at (559)245-2728.

Colorado Gold Party Reps for Hire

Finally, we are currently open to hiring Denver Gold Party Reps and Colorado Gold Party Reps.  If you are interested in learning more we have created a page specifically for our incoming Denver Gold Party Reps.  Trust us, becoming a Gold Party Rep may just be the best part-time or second job you have ever had.  But you don’t have to believe us, just read some of the testimonials that have been written by our Gold Party Reps and Gold Party Hosts.

Gold Party Hostess Testimonial: Cindy B.

Cindy B. has been a great east coast hostess for us, and has organized two Gold Party fundraisers.  She recently provided us with a testimonial discussing her experiences with Karats to Riches Gold Parties.  Thanks Cindy!

I had never heard about a Gold Party, much less attend one. However a few months ago a friend of mine was hosting a Gold Party with Karats to Riches, and giving a portion of the proceeds to Breast Cancer Research. I thought it was a great cause so I decided to attend the party. I was pretty sure I didn’t have much gold to sell, just a few stray single earrings, a couple of charms from an old 80′s bracelet and a few other broken pieces. I never imagined I would have had $450 in old gold. I am also not one to host an at-home party, but that night, I decided to book a Gold Party at my home to celebrate the end of the school year.

I had been thinking about how this type of party would make an excellent fundraiser for various organizations. I had several conversations with other people telling them how great I thought it could be for them. I wasn’t even thinking about a Gold Party as a fundraiser for our school; until someone else at the party mentioned it to Rick. And that is all it took. Rick provided me with great background information on how much our school could expect to earn, I was able to get an approval from our principal and the rest is history. In a very short period of time, we sent home flyers and communicated to parents through email and our automated phone system.

We combined the Gold Party with another one of our fundraisers so that people who were already attending the other event, could just step out for a few moments into another room and sell their gold. We had a great turnout and generated a huge buzz when people realized how their old, broken, unused or unwanted jewelry could be turned into a significant amount of cash — just in time for the holidays! Of course there were people who were a little skeptical at first because they were unfamiliar with Gold Parties, but after speaking to so many who did sell, they were upset that they didn’t bring their Gold. But not to worry, Karats to Riches helped us raise over $3,000 for our school and we have decided to have another party just 5 months after the original party! So anyone who missed out on the fun the first time, can be part of the excitement this time!

It has been a great experience working with Karats to Riches. They have been extraordinarily fair, generous, honest, polite, responsive and just a pleasure to work with from the outset. The parties are so easy to run and we keep earning money for our school because for every additional party booked from our fundraiser, the school receives 5% off the proceeds of that party!

Host a Party. Get a 32″ HDTV.

win an hdtv when you host a gold partyShort and sweet.  From now until March 31, 2011 if you host a Gold Party with Karats to Riches that generates over $4,000 in gold sales (about 15-20 attendees based on our typical average) you get a 32″ Philips HDTV.  There is no catch and no small print.  This deal even comes with our typical incentive package for our hosts.  This is a way to encourage big parties in a month where people tend to stay inside, but what better way to warm those winter blues than a brand new TV!

Compelling?  Well take a look at what a March party with Karats to Riches could earn you.

Assumption — your party has 20 attendees who each bring an average of $200 worth of gold, silver or platinum to sell.  $200 is a bit below our average person’s sales.

  • You would earn $400 from our standard 10% host incentive
  • You would earn $200 from our attendee bonus
  • You would get 5% of any parties booked at yours
  • You would earn a 32″ flatscreen HDTV

Not bad for a couple hour party huh?

So here is how you take advantage of this gold party offer:

  1. Book your party today by filling out the contact form or calling us at (559) 245-2728
  2. Your party must occur sometime between today and March, 31 2011
  3. Your party must have $4,000 in gold sales
  4. We send you the HDTV!

Fundraising during the gold rush

Think about the last few fundraisers that you’ve gone to.  Bake sale?  Raffles?  Benefit concert?

The traditional methods of fundraising are tried and true.  They are familiar, people know how to participate in them and have expectations that are easily fulfilled.  They are also relatively predictable in terms of the amount of money able to be generated.  They all have their own weaknesses as well:

  • Bake Sale? A lot of effort and little payoff (total funds generated typically not substantial).
  • Raffles? Most people losing their money with nothing in return. Also relatively insignificant fund generation.
  • Benefit Concert? Tough to coordinate. High marketing challenge.

In addition, all of these generate a feeling of obligation.  How often have you been to a bake sale or a raffle and simply participated because you felt an obligation, or you wanted to help the organization but didn’t really care about the raffle or baked goods.  You might as well have just donated your money.

Not to say that these aren’t all great ways of raising funds. There is a reason that they have been around for so many years.

But I want to talk about a new type of fundraiser.  A fundraiser where everyone has a good time, organization effort is low, funds generated are significant, and the people who are helping the organization leave with more money than they came with.  I know this sounds a bit too good to be true, but it isn’t.  These are the real benefits of having a Gold Party Fundraiser.

A Gold Party Fundraiser can be a stand-alone event (see the example of Mary’s party for the Wounded Warriors in a past post), or it can be effectively complemented with a second fundraiser event (examples include St. Catherine’s of Bologna and Peter Cooper School in New Jersey who complemented their Tricky Tray and Bazaar events respectively with Gold Parties).

Here are the benefits of a Gold Party Fundraiser:

  • Significant fund generation- Gold Party fundraisers typically generate anywhere from $1,000 to $5,000 for the cause, depending on the number of attendees.  A fair estimate is $100 per person that decides to sell their old and unwanted gold, silver, and platinum
  • Minimal setup time and effort- Send out invites and follow up with some phone calls to maximize the attendance.  That’s about it.  All the rest we take care of.
  • No feeling of obligation- With a gold party fundraiser you are not asking people to donate money, buy anything, or give up their money in any way.  In fact, it is quite the opposite.  In a Gold Party fundraiser the individuals are selling their old and unwanted gold, silver or platinum and are getting the full payment for those goods.  As an organization we donate an agreed upon percentage of all purchases to the participating organization.  Therefore people get to participate in the event and donate to the cause without having to spend any money whatsoever.
I have been intending to write this entry for some time, as fundraisers have been one of the biggest elements of growth in our organization.  Because of this, we have embedded charity into the lifeblood of who we are.  Not only are we helping organizations by supporting their fundraising efforts, but we are doing our own internal fundraising as well as a way of developing our Gold Rep community and sense of teamwork.
If this sounds interesting to you, contact us.  We are more than happy to help you with your fundraiser, including all planning activities and organizational sell in (we can model out likely proceeds for you and provide past references to bring to the head of your organization or event coordinator).

January Month of Giving

children benefiting from gold party salesOne of the greatest things that separates Karats to Riches from other gold party organizations is our great people and our intense focus on giving back to the community.  In addition to frequently hosting fundraisers where we have helped out wounded soldiers, women with breast cancer, elementary schools throughout the country, sports teams and more we have internal fundraising events to rally around.

In January, this event was called our January Month of Giving.  All of our Gold Party Reps were able to nominate a charity of their choice for the entire organization to rally around.  We pooled nominations and created a ballot for all our Reps to vote for their favorite charity.  The winner this year was the Children’s Shelter of Cebu, a wonderful organization that helps children in the Philippines.

All throughout the month of January, we will be donating 2.5% of all of our gold purchases to the Children’s Shelter of Cebu.  This is a great event for our Gold Party Reps to rally around and also for our Gold Party Hosts and Hostesses to rally around!  The ability to have fun, make a bunch of cash, and do good for society is what we are about as an organization.

Why not book a party now to take advantage of our January Month of Giving and earn money for your gold while giving back to those in need.  Or consider becoming a Gold Party Representative and joining an organization dedicated to this philosophy.

What do we do with jewels and other stones?

Removing diamonds and other jewels when selling jewelry

One of the most frequently asked questions we receive is regarding stones and other jewels.  Often, our guests will have gold in which they would like to sell, but it is part of a ring that has a large valuable stone, such as a diamond or an emerald.  Many times people will avoid bringing in pieces like that because there is a lack of understanding as to how that would be handled.  This is unnecessary, as we have a process for handling precious stones, which I’ll describe below.

We understand that many stones have great sentimental or tangible value.  Unfortunately, we are not gemologists or other experts in precious stones, and we do not purchase these stones.  There are options though for those that have jewelry that includes stones.

Have the stone removed by our Party Reps

All of our Party Reps come equipped with appropriate tools to remove gems and other stones from the jewelry if requested.  If the gem is valuable to you and you do not wish to sell with your gold, just let us know and we will remove the stone carefully and respectfully, and return it to you.

Give up the stone or choose to not sell the item

In some cases the stones may be so small, or so tightly integrated within a piece of jewelry that it will be too time consuming for our Reps to remove.  In this case, the Rep will let you know and give you the option of selling the gold jewelry without the stone, or to keep the item.  If we purchase the item with the stone the Rep will work with the guest to estimate the appropriate weight of the stone, as that must be removed from the overall weight of the piece as we are not able to pay for that weight.  In most cases the weight of the stones will be so minimal that we may choose not to deduct any weight off the piece, and in this case the guest will receive the value of those stones in gold weight.

In any case, the key to remember here is bring all your unwanted gold, silver and platinum, even if it includes stones you wish to keep.  Our talented and experienced Reps will discuss your options from those listed above and it will be your choice what you wish to do with the piece.  We never pressure anyone to sell any piece, so you will not feel uncomfortable in any way if you decide not to sell it, so you might as well bring it to see what we would pay!

We hope this helps and if you have any further questions please email us!
